Governor-designate Gulab Chand Kataria arrived at the Punjab Raj Bhawan in a ceremonial procession. On his arrival at the bhawan, Kataria was given the guard of honour by a contingent of the Punjab Police.
Earlier on his arrival along with his wife Anita Kataria, Punjab Cabinet ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Aman Arora welcomed the Governor-designate at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport.
Anurag Verma, Chief Secretary, Punjab; K Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor; Rajiv Verma, Adviser to UT Administrator; and Gaurav Yadhav, Punjab DGP, along with other senior dignitaries also welcomed Kataria.
Meanwhile, city BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra met Gulab Chand Kataria, new Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator, to congratulate him for the new responsibility. He raised several city issues with him and requested him to fulfil all of them.
Traffic advisory for swearing-in
Chandigarh: In view of the swearing-in of Gulab Chand Kataria, new Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator, at the Punjab Raj Bhawan tomorrow, the traffic police have issued an advisory. Only one-way traffic will be allowed on the road in front of the Raj Bhawan from 9 am to 12 noon.
Commuters taking the Uttar Marg are advised to avoid the Sukhna Lake road. The general public is also advised against travelling towards Heera Singh Chowk from the Sector 7/8 turn.
The police said all invitees were advised to reach the venue via Heera Singh Chowk (Sectors 5/6,7/8 intersection). Only vehicle with red stickers will be allowed to enter the Raj Bhawan.
Vehicles with green stickers will drop and pick dignitaries near the gate of Guru Nanak Auditorium. These vehicles can be parked on one side of the road in Sector 7 after passing through the Golf turn and the 7/26 light point.
