Governor gives away job letters to nursery teachers
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria distributed appointment letters to 68 newly recruited nursery teachers.
Kataria commended the appointees for their dedication and urged them to shape young minds. “Teachers are the cornerstone of a progressive society,” he said. The UT Administration is committed to pre-primary education, with 97 schools offering pre-primary classes to nearly 14,000 children.
With the new appointments, the strength of nursery teachers has risen to 178, improving the teacher-student ratio. Chandigarh has been shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Award for Early Childhood Care and Education 2023-24, credited to innovative teaching practices and state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The Administrator proposed introducing uniforms for teachers to symbolise unity, discipline, and their pivotal role in shaping society. He stressed the importance of professional development, urging teachers to participate in training programmes and remain updated with global educational trends.
Speaking at the event, he commended the appointees for their dedication and urged them to embrace their role as architects of the nation’s future. “As nursery teachers, you are entrusted with the responsibility of shaping young minds. Your role is not confined to academics but extends to instilling moral and social values. Teachers are the cornerstone of a progressive society,” he said.
The Administrator emphasised on the need for teachers to adopt high ideals and master self-discipline. “If you want to stop a child from erring, you must first master self-discipline,” he said.
