Paying glowing tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria today said he made supreme sacrifice for safeguarding Kashmiri Pandits.

The martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur stands as an eternal inspiration for the defence of human rights and freedom of faith, Kataria said at a function to mark the arrival of a ‘Dharm Rakhiak Yatra’ at Rayat Bahra University. To commemorate the martyrdom day of the Guru, functions were being organised not only in Punjab but all over the country, he added.

The Governor felicitated president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Harmeet Singh Kalka and other DSGMC office-bearers. He also extended his best wishes to the devotees participating in the Yatra, who partook of langar at Rayat Bahra University.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Satnam Singh Sandhu, Rajya Sabha MP and Chancellor of Chandigarh University; and Anshu Kataria, Chairman of Aryans Group of Colleges.

The yatra, dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur and his three devoted companions commenced today from Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal, Anandpur Sahib. It will culminate at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Ambala.
