The protest was launched on a call given by the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union (PCCTU), District Council Chandigarh.

Wearing black badges, the teachers slammed the delay in approving promotions under UGC Regulations, 2018, and violation of service conditions by the Administration. They alleged that promotions under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) remain stalled for years despite clear provisions.

Also, the teachers are placed on three years’ probation in violation of UGC and Panjab University regulations. The probationary staff are being denied full pay without allowances and there has been a delay in releasing Dearness Allowance (DA), with the latest due since January 1, they claimed.
