Panchkula, February 7

Hundreds of applicants for Group-C posts advertised by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) held a protest outside its office over a “faulty and wrongful” declaration of results.

The HSSC declared the results of the recruitment exams conducted to fill various Group-C posts, including assistant linemen, multi-purpose health workers, staff nurses, and others, on Tuesday. Later in the day, many applicants reached the office and said that their names did not appear on the final cut-off list even though their marks were above the minimum cut-off for selection, adding that many applicants who had scored less than them were on the final list.

On Wednesday, the protesting applicant said they had submitted applications to the department as their names were missing from the final lists. One of the applicants, Rahul, said that they have been waiting outside the HSSC office since Tuesday. “We discussed the matters with officials of the HSSC, but to no avail,” he said.

The protesting applicants said they had filled out the forms for the recruitment, submitted the necessary documents, and appeared for the exam. However, they said that when they reached the office to inquire about their names being missing from the final list, the department officials informed them that the documents of the applicants were not received by the department. The applicants said the claim made by the officials is questionable, as they were allowed to appear for the exam only after the submission of all necessary documents.

Manish, another applicant outside the office, said, “In a lot of cases, the uploaded documents may go missing due to glitches in the department’s website.”

Another applicant, Minaxi, had reached the office in relation to the selection for the Group-C post of Assistant Linemen. She said the HSSC website had numerous glitches leading to the absence of documents for applicants, which resulted in a faulty declaration of results.

The HSSC had issued an advertisement for the recruitment of various posts. The department conducted exams for the same in 2022 and 2023, and the final result was declared on Tuesday.

The applicants complained that the state government had failed to complete the recruitment process on time. Another one of the applicants said, “As the General Elections are around the corner, the state government has completed the recruitment process in a jiffy to cover up for their mistakes that they made earlier. This showcases the lackadaisical attitude of the state government, especially now that they have published faulty results. We will go to court in case the department fails to rectify the results soon.”
