UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria emphasised the importance of universal and quality education today when he granted approval for the allotment of 1.70 acres to the Department of School Education for the construction of a new Government Model Senior Secondary School.

Recognising the need for additional educational facilities in Sector 39, the Administrator approved the allotment of land to the Director, School Education. A CBSE-affiliated Government Model Senior Secondary School will be constructed to accommodate about 2,100 students.

The establishment of this new government school in Sector 39-B will provide quality education, fostering academic excellence and community development.

There are currently 111 government schools in Chandigarh. This new school will add to the achievements of the School Education Department, bringing the total number of government senior secondary schools to 43. The construction of the new school is expected to be completed within two years.

Meanwhile, he has urged the residents of Chandigarh to hoist Tricolour at their homes, offices and commercial buildings and click a selfie with the flag and upload it on social media.

Kataria was presiding over the ongoing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign at the Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, here today. During the event, a patriotic painting exhibition was organised, a short movie was shown, cultural performances were given by students of Government Model School, Sector 49 and Kundan International School, followed by a play on Shaheed Udham Singh performed by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi.
