Gunshots fired after clash at Kharar housing society
Five gunshots were fired into the air after two groups of youngsters clashed in a housing society on the Kharar-Kurali road during the wee hours today.
No one was injured in the firing but panic gripped the area in the aftermath of the incident.
The altercation, which took place at Future Heights, began after a youth rammed his vehicle into the green area in turn damaging the road berm and ornamental plants at the society. An altercation ensued between the society residents and the driver, following which the rounds were fired.
The police called for additional force as a large group of youths created ruckus in the area. Later, they fled from the spot.
The team recovered four empty shells, one live round, the accidental vehicle and two bikes from the spot.
On the statement of a policeman, cops have registered an Arms Act case against unidentified persons at the City Kharar police station. Investigating officer Paramjit Singh, meanwhile, denied acknowledging the incident even though the seized vehicles were taken to the police station.
