The UT police arrested two persons for opening fire outside a house in Hallomajra on the intervening night of July 10 and 11.

The suspects were identified as Vinod (38) of Ram Darbar, Phase II, and Hardev Singh (33) of Mankiya village in Panchkula. The police recovered a pistol and a country-made firearm from them.

In a complaint to the police, Amit Jaiswal of Deep Complex, Hallomajra, stated that around 12:50 am, he saw a masked person firing gunshots at his house and later in his direction. As he stepped outside the house, he saw two men fleeing.

A case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Arms Act at the Sector 31 police station. The suspects were arrested and will be produced in court on July 12.

Vinod, a chair maker by trade, has a long history of criminal activity, with multiple cases relating to assault, intimidation and arms offences registered against him. Hardev Singh, a carpenter by profession, does not have any known prior criminal record.
