Gunshots fired outside GMCH-32 Emergency, 1 hurt

Patients and their attendants were left terrified when four persons opened fire outside the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 here tonight. A patient’s attendant, who was standing nearby, was injured in the incident.
Sources said the miscreants had some old dispute with a person, identified as Jagtar, who was present at the hospital, following which they arrived outside the Emergency and opened fire at his car parked there. Preliminary investigation revealed that five rounds were fired. The miscreants managed to escape from the spot.
A man, identified as Gurdiyal Singh of Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh, received injuries. He was immediately taken to the Emergency.
The police were informed about the incident, following which the SHO of the Sector 34 police station and a team of crime branch rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.
The police have recorded the statements of eyewitnesses.
The police said that the footage of CCTV cameras installed on the GMCH campus was being scrutinised.
A police official said both the sides had an old dispute and the miscreants wanted to take revenge.
