Governors, leaders greet Chandigarh ex-MP Satya Pal Jain on his 73rd birthday
Punjab and Haryana Governors Gulab Chand Kataria and Bandaru Dattatreya today visited the residence of former Chandigarh MP and Additional Solicitor General of India Satya Pal Jain in Sector 15 here on his 73rd birthday and wished him a long life.
The other dignitaries who extended birthday greetings to Jain included Speaker of Punjab Legislative Assembly Kultar Singh Sandhwan, city BJP president Jatinder Malhotra, former Mayor Davesh Moudgil and PU Vice-ChancellorRenu Vij. They presented Jain with shawls and bouquets of flowers.
Governor Kataria, who had to go to Rajasthan, visited Jain’s house after returning here. Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini also paid him a visit. MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, MP Harsh Mahajan and many other dignitaries congratulated Jain over the phone.
Meanwhile, Jain celebrated his birthday in a simple way at his home. Hundreds of people from different parts of the city across the party lines visited his home to congratulate him. Sweets were also distributed on this occasion.
Jain was elected as a member of the Lok Sabha from Chandigarh twice in 1996 and 1998 and had been a member of the Senate of Punjab University for the last about 48 years. For the last 10 years, he has been working as the Additional Solicitor General for the Government of India.
