Guv’s intervention sought over proposed collector rates hike
The Property Federation of Chandigarh has expressed serious concerns over proposed increase in collector rates for various categories of properties in the city.
In a letter to the UT Administrator, Gulab Chand Kataria, Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, president of the federation, stated that the move could significantly drive up property prices in Chandigarh, which may lead to a decline in property transactions within the city. Consequently, investors might be more inclined to purchase properties in the neighbouring cities, he said.
Panchhi urged the Administrator to intervene and direct the Chandigarh Administration to reconsider any further increase in collector rates, emphasising that such a step would be in the public interest.
