Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee holds first election

The first general election of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) was conducted smoothly, with voters turning out in large numbers to elect their representatives across two wards.

Deputy Commissioner Monica Gupta confirmed that the elections were carried out peacefully.

In the election to Ward Number 1, Kalka, Gurmeet Singh secured an decisiive victory with a big margin

of 152 votes.

The winning candidate received 1,564 votes, while his closest rival, Ujaagar Singh, garnered 1,412 votes. Other candidates from the ward, Sujinder Singh, Harpreet Singh, and NOTA, received 1,010, 145 and 25 votes, respectively.

A total of 4,156 votes were cast across the seven polling booths set up in Ward Number 1.

Ward Number 2 Panchkula saw a much closer contest, with Savran Singh winning by 42 votes.

He obtained 829 votes, narrowly defeating Gursevak Singh, who received 787 votes.

Other candidates included Pyara Singh (762 votes), Jagmohan Singh (326 votes), Gurcharan Singh (122 votes), Jagjit Singh (10 votes), and NOTA (9 votes). Voting took place at six polling booths, with 2,845 voters participating.

The election process, which began at 8 am and concluded at 5 pm, witnessed seamless coordination, ensuring a fair and peaceful exercise of democracy. Results were promptly declared after counting at all polling stations.
