Haryana’s Rubani stuns Bhumi, qualifies for final

Eighth seed Haryana’s Rubani Kaur Sidhu recorded a 9-1 win over fifth seed Chandigarh’s Bhumi Kakkar to qualify for the girls’ U-16 final on the penultimate day of the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-3) Tennis Tournament today.

Eighth seed Haryana’s Rubani Kaur Sidhu recorded a 9-1 win over fifth seed Chandigarh’s Bhumi Kakkar to qualify for the girls’ U-16 final on the penultimate day of the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-3) Tennis Tournament today.

Another Haryana’s contender Vanya Arora also made her way to the title clash by defeating Chandigarh’s Sia Mahajan 9-3. Earlier in quarterfinals, Rubani showed an excellent performance to defeat top seed and local contender Maitreyi Phogat 8-6. Second seed Vanya defeated Punjab’s Mehakpreet Kaur 8-2, Bhumi defeated fourth seed Haryana’s Angelina Singh 8-1 and Sia ousted Radha Sadhra 8-5.

Aditya to face Ekamjeet

Top seed Aditya Chauhan will face third seed Ekamjeet Singh Cheema of Punjab in the boys’ U-16 final. In semis, Chauhan overpowered Arnav Bishnoi 9-1 and Cheema managed to pull off a 9-7 win over second seed Chandigarh’s Anirudh Sangra. In quarterfinals, Chauhan defeated Shraey Vir, after the latter conceded the match, Bishnoi ousted Anuj Pal 8-0, Cheema defeated Yash Solanky 8-1 and Sangra outplayed Gurbaaz Singh Dhanoa 8-4.
