Mohali, February 27
The Health Department today conducted a mock drill at Civil Hospital, Phase 6, Mohali, to check preparedness related to novel coronavirus.
Mohali Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said the mock drill team comprised ENT, medicine specialists, staff nurses and other concerned staff.
“Every step from shifting a patient from his home to the hospital in an ambulance and his treatment was conducted. The purpose of the entire exercise is to check preparedness level,” said Dr Singh.
He said the patient was examined by medicine specialist Dr Bhushan Kumar and ENT specialist Dr Sandeep Kumar took his samples.
Earlier, the staff nurses and other staff was sensitised about wearing personal protection equipment (PPE) kit and about how to deal in such a situation, said Dr Singh, who along with nodal officer Dr Harmandeep Kaur monitored the entire exercise.
“The exercise gave us an opportunity to know about our weaknesses and strengths. It will help in identifying shortcomings,” he said.
He claimed that no case of coronavirus has so far been reported in the state.
“Three isolation wards have been set up at at district hospital Mohali, sub-divisional hospitals at Kharar and Dera Bassi,” he added.
