The Haryana Health Department Employees’ Coordination Committee has strongly opposed the government’s directive making it mandatory for doctors and staff to mark their attendance through geo-fencing, using their personal mobile devices, and linking salary payments to the same.

Submitting a memorandum to Panchkula MLA Chander Mohan, the committee termed the decision as impractical and unlawful. It was stated that the order would infringe upon employees’ privacy and also violate the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court.

Employees apprehended that linking mobile numbers, Aadhaar details and bank accounts could make them prone to cybercrime. They demanded that the government should immediately withdraw the order.
