The owner of a spa in Manimajra was arrested after a female client alleged illegal surveillance.
The suspect was identified as Sandeep Bawa.
The complainant, a resident of Sarangpur, had booked an online appointment at a spa located at the NAC, Manimajra. During her visit, she became suspicious of being watched and reported the matter to the police. During investigation, it came to light that a hidden camera was installed on the premises by the spa owner, identified as Sandeep Bawa.
While the camera had no recording facility due to the absence of a hard disk, investigators found that it was being used to stream live footage.
Police officials confirmed that the suspect was allegedly monitoring the live feed in real time. During questioning, he claimed that the camera had been installed to keep tabs on his employees. However, the police noted that the camera was not placed in a ‘staff-only’ area, and its live monitoring without consent added to the suspicion of its misuse.
A case under Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered against the spa owner. Bawa was arrested and later released on bail.
