High-end hotels, restaurants log 70% bookings for New Year’s Eve
Chandigarh is all set to usher in New Year with unparalleled extravagance. From couple entries to group of five or an extended family dinner with up to 20 people, the packages range from Rs 30,000 to as high as Rs 1.25 lakh.
With bookings pouring in thick and fast, the city’s high-end fine-dining restaurants and clubs are witnessing a frenzy of reservations, as party enthusiasts vie for a spot at the most coveted venues.
JW Marriott is hosting singer Gurnam Bhullar in their Grand Ballroom with two types of passes available — general and VIP, costing Rs 22,999 and Rs 33,999 plus taxes, respectively, for couple entry. For the same, premium customers have booked cabanas with Ballroom access which cost Rs 79,999, Rs 94,999 and Rs 1,24,999 for three, four and five couples, respectively. It’s basically for family and friends who wish to have private dining area for themselves while enjoying the performance. The hotel’s restaurants, The Cafe@JW, Saffron, XO and Brewhouse, would be offering their services from Rs 12,999 onwards for a couple on the New Year Eve.
Paramveer Singh, Cluster General Manager (Operations & General Manager) Taj Chandigarh, shared, “We are delighted with the overwhelming response to our NYE celebrations across our dining outlets. At Café 17 and Dera, our dinner buffet starts at Rs 6,999 per person and Rs 13,999 per couple, along with 3-piece live band, while at Black Lotus we have lavish TDH menu price at Rs 7,999 per person and Rs 15,999 per couple along with 2-piece live band.”
A newly opened restaurant on 19th floor of Omaxe building, Ciel – A Sky High Experience, is completely booked because it’s offering something new to people. In the restaurant with aesthetics of a cave, the premium seating area, a private dining room cost Rs1 lakh plus taxes (full cover) for with capacity up to 10 couples. Even the outdoor standing table area costs Rs 30,000, which can accommodate five people at the most.
Hyatt Centric, Sector 17, is keeping Koyo Koyo, one of the top favourite experiences for city residents, open to all with no booking charges. The à la carte menu will be served, but customers have to pre-book slots, which were almost full by 4.30 pm on Sunday. Their another restaurant Corby’s is offering lavish gourmet dinner at Rs 3,499 plus taxes per person starting 8.30pm. Another popular choice for families, a fine-dining Mediterranean restaurant, Olive Café & Bar, is hosting an à la carte dinner with a DJ night. The restaurant informed that all tables were booked for NYE, two days in advance.
From upscale eateries to trendy clubs, Chandigarh’s party circuit is the place to be on New Year’s Eve. Popular culinary bars such as rapper Badshah’s Seville-Bar & Lounge, Kakuna, and Kala Ghoda, Sector 26 are also popular partying places for youngsters. The couple entries go up to Rs 7,500 at these restaurants. Whereas male stag entry is being sold at Kakuna at Rs 9,000, which is way more than the couple pass at Rs 7,000. On the other hand, clubs in city’s Sector 26 are keeping it student-friendly allowing couple entry with cover charges. Vikas Kundu, owner Culture Brew Exchange, Sector 26, shared, “Hiring multiple DJs has been a common affair around Christmas and NYE parties to invite guests to the dance floor.”
House parties are on
There are many celebrities performing on the New Year Eve in Chandigarh, such as Satinder Sartaaj at Omaxe, New Chandigarh, Lakhwinder Wadali at Wyndham Chandigarh, Mohali, and Mankirat Aulakh at Shivalik Country Club, Panchkula.
But after a crazy December with celebrity concerts of that of Karan Aujla, Diljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon, the residents are rooting for peaceful NYE parties and avoiding crowded places. The word is that almost every exquisite Airbnb place in and around Chandigarh is booked to have a quiet house party, which would be lesser the hassle for traffic police. The Bring Your Own Booze (BYOB) parties are at all time high at this time of the year.
