Chandigarh, August 5

Chandigarh again recorded a single day biggest spike of 64 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the tally of cases to 1,270 in the city.

With the new cases, the active number of infections has crossed the 500 mark.

Around 42 per cent of the total cases are currently active.

The new cases also include 21 positive cases by Rapid-Antigen tests. The city has conducted 15,611 tests till date. The positivity rate is presently 8.1 per cent in the city.

Sectors 52, 40, 24, 42, 43, 47, 41, 46, 34, 39, 28, 45, 40, 30, 41, GMCH-32, Dhanas, Burail, Hallomajra, Khuda Lahora, PGI, Raipur Khurd, Kajheri, Bapudham colony, Dadu Majra recorded the new cases.

Among the new contacts, four are PGIMER employees, while a 28 year old man is working at Haryana Civil Secretariat.

As many as 16 cases have contracted infection from family members and nine cases from their workplace.

A total of 715 patients have recovered from corona virus while 20 have succumbed to the illness.
