Himachal minister Vikramaditya marries PU asst prof Amreen

Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh, son of six-time Himachal Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh and Himachal Congress chief Pratibha Singh, married Amreen Kaur Sekhon, an Assistant Professor at Panjab University, here on Monday.

The Anand Karaj ceremony took place at a gurdwara, attended only by close relatives. Despite the modest gathering, the solemnity of the moment was reflected in the couple’s understated yet regal attire. Vikramaditya was dressed in a pastel pink sherwani with intricate embroidery, paired with a bright orange and pink turban and traditional ‘kalgi’. He carried a ceremonial sword wrapped in a multicoloured sash, adding a royal touch reminiscent of his lineage. The bride, Amreen, wore a heavily embroidered peach-toned lehenga with an ornate veil covering her face. Golden bridal ‘kalire’ dangled from her hands, completing her traditional look.

The bride’s family home in Sector 2, Chandigarh, bore quiet signs of festivity. While its gates were decorated with flowers and lights, there were no parked cars or extended guests, underscoring the family’s decision to keep the wedding a private affair.

Amreen Kaur is a distinguished academic, holding double master’s degrees in English and Psychology along with a PhD in Psychology. With research experience at Harvard University, she currently teaches at Panjab University. She is the daughter of Sardar Jotinder Singh Sekhon and Opinder Kaur.

This is Vikramaditya Singh’s second marriage. His first marriage, to Sudarshana Chundawat of Rajasthan’s Amet royal family in 2019, ended in divorce in late 2024.

Though the wedding was kept low-key, the couple’s first photographs were taken from outside gurudwara with family members surrounding the couple, including Vikramaditya’s mother Pratibha Singh and maternal uncle and BJP leader Prithvi Vikram Sen and father of the bride, Sr Advocate Jotinder Singh Sekhon. The images, depicting a blend of tradition and simplicity sparked a wave of interest across Himachal and beyond.

HP Dy CM daughter’s ring ceremony

Chandigarh: The ring ceremony of HP Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri’s daughter Dr Aastha Agnihotri was held at Mullanpur on Monday. Agnihotri posted on X: “Today on the auspicious occasion of Dr Aastha Agnihotri’s engagement, we remember Prof Simmi Agnihotri (Agnihotri’s late wife) affectionately.” Dr Agnihotri is serving as assistant professor at the HPU, Shimla. She is getting married to Sachin Sharma, a 2022-batch IAS officer currently serving as the Amb SDM in Una district. He hails from Haryana. The marriage will be held in Una on Nov 22, sources said.
