Himmat, Sumit shine as Minerva lift cricket title

Skipper Himmat Singh scored a ton and Sumit Beniwal took five wickets as Minerva Academy Cricket Club defeated Indian Railways by 24 runs to win the 30th All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament at IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Batting first, the club team posted 313 runs in 50 overs. Himmat posted a stunning 119 off 113 balls. Zubair Ali Khan claimed a five-wicket haul for the bowling side.

In reply, the Railways team bundled out a 289 in 47.4 overs. Ansh Yadav remained the leading scorer. He made 117 runs. Sumit Beniwal picked a fifer.

While Ayan Choudhary of Indian Railways was adjudged the best bowler, the best batsman award went to Manan Vohra of the UT Cricket Association. The best all rounder and the best player of the tournament was Ansh Yadav of Indian Railways. Sumit Beniwal was declared the man of the match in the final clash. Haryana Minister Rao Narbir Singh awarded Rs 2 lakh and winner’s trophy to the title winner.
