A cyclist was killed while another person riding pillion suffered serious injuries after their cycle was hit by a speeding car near a petrol pump in Sector 10 here on Sunday.

Sources said the accident took place when Bakku Kumar (17), a native of Bihar, and Laltu Kumar (22), were heading to Sector 18.

The injured persons were taken to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared Bakku brought dead.

The police have initiated investigations into the incident. A case has been registered at the Sector 3 police station.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
