Rupnagar, February 10

A month before the Hola Mohalla festivities in Anandpur Sahib, the district administration today geared up for the event that draws lakhs of pilgrims from across the country and abroad.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Himanshu Jain held a meeting with the officials of various departments to ensure the preparedness and make arrangements for the celebrations, showcasing the rich diversity of the state.

The festivities are scheduled to begin at Kiratpur Sahib on March 10-12 and at Anandpur Sahib on March 13-15.

The entry gates and parts of the towns will be adorned with decorative lighting to give it a festive look. Giant-size LED screens will also be put up at appropriate place to showcase celebrations and related information will be provided at the help desks.

Easy access through all roads, adequate parking in the town, shuttle bus service, clean drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply, and hassle-free traffic management will be ensured.

Traffic on the National Highway will be diverted from Kiratpur Sahib to Anandpur Sahib via Nurpur Bedi from February 11 to 15. Tractor trailers with loudspeakers will not be allowed and the town will be declared no-vehicle zone.

Watch towers and CCTV cameras are being planned at strategic locations to keep vigil over all developments, while makeshift dispensaries and police control rooms will also be set up.

The DC said, “Our focus will be on providing neat and clean environment to the pilgrims here. The administration is geared up for providing uninterrupted power, hassle free travel and cleanliness in the town.”
