Hookah: Club caught on wrong foot a third time

It seems the decision of the UT Administration to close clubs and restaurants for three days for defying the hookah ban has failed to deter club owners as 10 days after a case was registered against the owner of a club, Pipe and Barrel, in Sector 9 for serving hookah, the UT police again found hookah being served to customers at the club.

Three cases have been registered against the club for serving hookah since December.

According to the police, hookah was being served at the club on January 9 following which a case was registered against club owner Sumesh Gagneja under Sections 188 and 270 of IPC and Section 58 of the Disaster Management Act at the Sector 3 police station.

The police had earlier booked Gagneja after hookah was found being served to customers on December 12.

Meanwhile, assistant manager of the club Deepak was also booked by the police after they found hookah being served at the club on December 2.
