The Prime Minister’s office has intimated the Estate Officer, Chandigarh, to look after the long pending demand of booth owners in the city for storage space on the roof of their shops.

Former Chandigarh Beopar Mandal president Kailash Jain said: “I received an update on September 23 with the complaint status as ‘under process’. I am hopeful something good will come out of it soon.” Recently, Jain had written a letter to the Prime Minister and urged him to give permission to construct storage space on roofs as traders were facing severe space constraints in the existing structures. “The Chandigarh unit of the BJP had batted for the booth owners in the last Lok Sabha elections, but there has been no decision on it by the UT Administration so far. So, booth owners are suffering,” he said. — TNS
