Horse Show: CHRS riders dominate on Day 1

Chandigarh Horse Riding Society stole the show by bagging a maximum of medals on the first day of the CHRS Horse Show at the Sector 51 grounds today.
CHRS riders made a clean sweep in the open 70 cm event, show jumping (group 2) and ball and bucket (group 1) events on the first day.
Suharsh Bhuyan was adjudged the best rider of the day. He won the first position in the open 70 cm event and the show jumping open 80 cm event today.
Niharika Singh, astride Argentina, bagged the first position in the show jumping (group 2) event. CHRS rider Saavia Sidhu, the youngest rider of the event, bagged the second position followed by Sifat in the third place. Niharika also claimed the third position in the girls show jumping open 80 cm event.
Niharika (11), a student of Class V of Saupins School, Sector 32, said, “Me and my brother have been training for show jumping for years now. I wish I won medals at the national and international level. I am working hard on it.”
In the ball and bucket (Group 3) event, Aradhya (CHRS), Aamya (The Stables), Anika Mandi (TRS) and Saavia (CHRS) claimed the top four positions.
Three horse riding clubs of the tricity, schools, the Army and individuals took part in the competition today.
Chandigarh Horse Riding Society organising secretary JS Toor said, “The society is gearing up to host the tent pegging nationals at the CHRS ground from February 9 to 16 where more than 100 top riders of the country will showcase their skills.”
