Hours after resuming operations, Mohali airport shuts again

Barely two hours after a Delhi-Chandigarh flight landed at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport here today, flight operations had to be halted after drones were sighted in Amritsar and Samba at night.

A Delhi-Chandigarh flight arrived here around 8:50 pm with 18 passengers on board. However, the airlines later issued a fresh update reverting to the earlier status. The official said the latest update to halt operations is till May 13 and the situation would be reviewed soon.

Thirtytwo airports across the northern and western regions, including Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh and Rajkot, were closed for civilian flight operations till May 15 by Directorate General of Civil Aviation amid heightened tension with Pakistan.
