Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress government. During a “Meet the Press” event at the Chandigarh Press Club, Thakur accused CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of failing to fulfil “guarantees” announced by the Congress before the Assembly elections.

“The same leaders who misled the people of Himachal with false promises are now attempting the same in Bihar,” he said. “Governments cannot run on fake guarantees and hollow promises — real development requires sincerity and a spirit of public service.”

Thakur pointed out that the BJP government had launched numerous welfare schemes without making any false guarantees, such as Grihini Suvidha Yojana, Himcare, Sahara Yojana, Old Age Pension, and Swavalamban Yojana. “The present Congress government, on the other hand, has woven a web of false promises without genuine intent,” he added.

“The CM’s policies have pushed the state towards disorder, corruption and chaos,” he said, alleging that the state government had shut down over 2,000 institutions. “The welfare schemes of our government, which were still benefiting the public, have also been discontinued,” he said.
