Chandigarh/Mohali/Panchkula, July 17
The wait for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class X results ended this this evening with Mohali and Panchkula scoring over Chandigarh in giving this year’s joint toppers from the tricity.
Mohali’s Ravleen Kaur, a student of Yadvindra Public School, and Panchkula’s Armaan Chahal, a student of Little Flower School, topped the tricity’s with 99 per cent marks.
Target achieved
Ravleen, who also topped Mohali district, had set a target of scoring over 95 per cent marks. Her success mantra was ‘daily revision without any gap, making notes and reading books’. She said most of her studies were in blended mode.
“There is less distraction from your classmates. It all depends on your focus. But, given the choice, she would prefer offline classes,” said Ravleen, daughter of realtor Gagandeep Singh and Gurkreet Sama.
“I wish to become a forensic expert, as I like biology a lot. It is not just a desk job. It needs application of mind. I usually spend time sketching and composing music. I have been sketching since childhood. It gives me happiness. I also like to pen lyrics and compose backround music. Now, I get very little time for hobbies, but it helps in relaxation,” she added.
Aspiring to be an aerospace engineer
Chahal gave credit of his achievement to his teachers and parents. “I used to study only 2 to 3 hours a day. I am fond of making art and sketches. I want to pursue a career in aerospace engineering and have already started taking classes under professional guidance. My parents and teachers have always support me and I will try to make them proud in future as well. I am aiming for a berth in the IIT or Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh,” said Chahal, whose father is a scientist and mother a housewife.
Chandigarh also witnessed a tie between toppers. Tarini Mediti, a student of St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, and Anusha, a student of St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, scored 98.80 per cent marks.
Tarini, whose parents (Prabhakar and Manju) are faculty members of IIT Ropar, has her interest in computer applications and wants to become an expert in the field. “My major area of focus is computer applications and artificial intelligence. I have no immediate plans of joining any institute, but I have started taking special classes in free time. I really wanted to break into the world’s best college or university to pursue my dream of becoming a successful professional of my area of interest,” said Tarini.
Anusha has set her eyes on becoming a successful surgeon. “I want to crack the All India Institute of Medical Sciences entrance and become a surgeon. The next two years are crucial and I am up for the challenge ahead,” said Anusha, whose father Dr Anurag Kuhad is an Assistant Professor at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PU, and mother Dr Astha Kuhad is PhD in chemistry.
