Illegal mining uncovered in Miyanpur

The district administration has ordered the lodging of an FIR against alleged illegal mining at a site in the Miyanpur Changar area, Kharar.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said after receiving information about the illegal mining in Miyanpur area, a team led by Kharar SDM Gurmander Singh and comprising Naib Tehsildar Majri Raghvit Singh, Executive Engineer Drainage-cum-Mines and Geology, Akash Aggarwal and SDO Pardeep Kumar visited the spot in the evening to gather the report on the illegal activities. The site on which the trash of mining activities has been found, is illegal. The material that has been extracted from the site is mixture of sand, gravel and earth.

As per the report of the Executive Engineer, Drainage-cum-Mines and Geology, an FIR has been recommended to the district police to launch further investigation.

The Deputy Commissioner said there will be no mining activities in the district after sunset to take the record of mining activities. Besides, the Executive Engineer, Drainage-cum-Mines and Geology has been asked to take all the precautions including CCTV cameras to monitor and check for illegal mining activities.
