Meanwhile, in a separate order the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has shifted seven sub-inspectors from the Enforcement Department. The order issued by the Commissioner said that the services of the following sub-inspector posted in the Enforcement Wing are withdrawn with immediate effect and is directed to report to the establishment branch without delay for further duties. Those sub-inspectors who have been shifted include Ravi, Sahil Bhola, Deepak, Ved Parkash, Nirmal Singh, Rattan Singh and Arun Garg.

Saurabh Joshi, councillor, said that illegal street vending amounts to encroachment and public nuisance. The police have powers under the BNS to register FIRs and prosecute offenders, while MC officials are empowered under the 2014 Act to evict, relocate and penalise unauthorised vendors.
