Immigration firm owner held in Mohali, 150 passports seized

Mohali, October 20

The police have recovered 150 passports and two notary stamps from the owner of an immigration company in Sector 70 here.

The suspect, Vikas Verma, the owner of Prime International Consultancy, was arrested. A case under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC and the Immigration Act was registered against him at the Mataur police station. The suspect will be produced in court tomorrow.

Vikas Verma could not give a satisfactory explanation for possession of such a large number of passports. The police are verifying the authenticity of the seized passports. The police also seized two laptops and a mobile phone of the company owner.

The investigation team suspect that proformas of fake documents, fake offer letters and other documents related to immigration might be there.

The police said there were several complaints of immigration fraud following which raids were conducted today. Mataur SHO Navinpal Singh Lehal said the suspect cheated innocent people on the pretext of sending them abroad.
