Chandigarh: An immigration consultant has been booked for allegedly duping a resident of Himachal Pradesh of Rs2 lakh on the pretext of sending his son abroad. Complainant Damodar Singh Chauhan of Mandi district, alleged that Gurlal Singh, aka Garry, who has an office named Arcade World in Sector 34, took Rs2 lakh in 2018 for sending his son Anil Chauhan to Singapore on a work visa. However, his son was not sent abroad. TNS

P’kula College starts 6 courses

Panchkula: Government Postgraduate College, Sector 1, has introduced six new UGC-sponsored courses — three vocational courses in IT/ software development, banking, finance and service and insurance, and IT and digital marketing, along with three diploma courses in IT and software development, agriculture/ mushroom cultivation and food processing. 1-KM-LONG Overbridge soon

Fatehgarh Sahib: An overbridge will be constructed at the Ambe Majra-Talwara crossing near Mandi Gobindgarh on the National Highway for Rs27 crore. This will meet the long-pending demand of residents. Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Amar Singh and Amloh MLA Kaka Randeep Singh Nabha, along with officials of the National Highway, inspected the project site on Thursday. The work on 1-km-long overbridge would be completed on time, they said. The overbridge would benefit industries on both sides of the National Highway, said Dr Amar Singh and Kaka Randeep Singh while addressing the media. OC
