Mohali: Four unidentified youths robbed a mechanic of his scooter and a mobile phone at gunpoint near Balongi on August 25 night. The victim, Suraj Kumar, stated that the suspects were in police uniform and signalled him to stop. As he stopped, unidentified youths came out of a car and pointed a weapon at him. They snatched his scooter and a mobile phone and bundled him into the car. Later, they dumped him at a secluded place on a road to Rupnagar.

Office-bearers elected

Mohali: The executive committee of the District Tax Bar Association was formed unanimously. The newly elected office-bearers are Parmjeet Kumar (president), Dheeraj Arora (senior vice-president), Deepak Sharma (vice-president 1), Sanjay Sharma (vice-president 2), Satbir Singh Dhaliwal (general secretary) and Sandeep Gupta (finance secretary).

DAV shooters bag medals

Chandigarh: Two students of DAV College, Sector 10, won medals in shooting at the ongoing Asian Junior Championship in Kazakhstan. Payal Khatri and Namya Kapoor won individual gold and silver medals, respectively, in the women’s junior 25m sports pistol event. Payal scored 36 points and Namya 30.
