Chandigarh: The UT Estate Office has again failed to find buyers for its two leasehold nursing home sites in an auction held on Thursday. The Estate Office had invited fresh bids for two home sites on August 5, but failed to find a single bidder. One site each for nursing homes was put up for sale in Sector 46 and Sector 51. The reserve price for the Sector 46 site was fixed at Rs 13.62 crore and Rs 18.72 crore for the other. TNS

GMCH staff bags to be checked

Chandigarh: In response to a spate of thefts reported from the newly inaugurated Emergency Trauma Block, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, has issued an order directing security personnel to check the bags and belongings of staff members as they exit the premises. The order, signed by the Medical Superintendent, notes that while thefts have drawn the attention of the hospital authorities, some employees have expressed resentment over the checks. The directive appeals to staff to cooperate voluntarily with security checks, stressing that the measure is not intended to inconvenience employees but to ensure that those involved in theft are caught. Vipin claims athletics gold

Chandigarh: On the opening day of the Chandigarh State Athletics Championship, Vipin Sudesh Pal clocked 33 minutes and 15.10 seconds (33:15.01s) to claim the men’s 10000m gold medal, followed by Rohit Ram Kishan (33:26.00s) and Yash Raj (35:40.80s). In the men’s U-20 category, Ravi Yadav (32:15.40s), while in women’s senior category, Rekha Singh (42:14.50s) and Yukta (1:27.51.80s) claimed second position. In the men’s 400m race, Kunal (1:06.25s) and Vikas Kumar (1:08.35s) bagged laurels.
