Panchkula: Hitesh Behl defeated Delhi’s Ashish Khanna in a commanding final match of the 45+ ITF Masters Tennis Tournament in Kolkata. Behl won the event with a 6-3 6-0 score. This was his second ITF title to achieve the sixth rank in India’s 45+ tennis category. TNS

Hawks Cricket Academy win

Chandigarh: Hawks Cricket Academy defeated Devansh Sharma Cricket Academy by eight wickets in the 3rd RP Singh U-16 Cricket Memorial Tournament. Batting first, Devansh Cricket Academy batters scored 94 in 24.3 overs. Vihaan Tayal scored the highest 28 runs, while Alif Ansari scored 25. Satvik Thakur claimed three wickets, while Parmansh Dhiman, Tej Veer Maan, Uday Kumar, Naitik Sharma and Akshant Gagneja claimed one wicket each. In reply, Hawks Cricket Academy achieved the target in 12.1 overs as Manveer Singh scored unbeaten 72 off 40 balls, and Dakshita Thakur contributed 16. Anand and Vihaan Tayal claimed one wicket each. Atwal Sports victorious

Chandigarh: Madhav Prabhakar claimed three wickets, while Saksham scored unbeaten 44 to help Atwal Sports India defeat Lakshay School of Cricket, Kalka, by two wickets in 17th Sub-Junior Cricket Championship. Batting first, the Kalka team scored 125 with the help of Reyansh (30), Devesh Pandey (28), Devan Dahiya (24), Jashvardhan (20) and Madhav Prabhakar (20). Hardik and Akshit also claimed two wickets each for the bowling side. In reply, Atwal Sports batters posted 126/8 with the help of Saksham, PK Dubey (31) and Riya (17). Asveen, Sidhak win silver medal

Chandigarh: The pair of Asveen Kaur and Sidhak Kaur, students Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, won the doubles silver medal in the U-19 category at the 68th States Meet held at Harvest Tennis Academy, Jagraon. Asveen and Sidhak have been selected to represent Punjab at the nationals in the Under-19 category. TNS

Mohali: The 4th Edition of Krishna Devi Memorial Senior Women League-Cum-Knockout Cricket Tournament will start from January 23 at IVCA Cricket Ground, Dera Bassi. According to Amarjit Kumar, organising secretary, a total of five teams will participate in this tournament. All teams will play a minimum of four league matches and the top two teams of each pool will qualify for the final stage. TNS

Winter game team leave for Ladakh

Chandigarh: A 43-member contingent was flagged off for the Khelo India Winter Games to be held in Leh and Ladakh from January 23 to 27. The team, comprising 20 boys, 19 girls, two coaches and two managers, was flagged off by the Joint Director Sports, Dr Mahender Singh, at the Sports Complex, Sector 42. TNS
