Chandigarh, September 2
An oil marketing firm – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) – has automated all its 25 outlets (petrol pumps) in the city. The automated system ensures that right quantity and quality of fuel is dispensed to customers and it also enhances safety at the retail outlet (petrol pump).
For example, details of all transactions at the outlet (pump), status of tanks, stock and dispensing units are recorded on a real-time basis on the Retail Automation Central Server, thus limiting the pilferage. The data thus generated is used for generating various reports and MIS for better monitoring over the retail network.
“The fuel retailing at the pumps has been automated by digitising, integrating & harmonising the entire operations at the outlets. Various equipment at outlet such as tanks, dispensing units and payment platform have been brought under an automated system, thereby harmonising fuel delivery to customers,” said Sujoy Choudhury, Executive Director and State Head, Indian Oil Punjab State Office.
The automation system monitors and controls day-to-day operations at an outlet through a fore court controller. This is achieved through the implementation of checks and balances known as system interlocks, which are helpful in real- time monitoring of various operational parameters at the point of sales.
Meanwhile, on September 1, 2021, Indian Oil celebrated its 62nd anniversary. On this occasion, it launched a campaign, “Pure Aur Poora Dono Hee”, which aims at enhanced customer engagement.
