IndiGo flight chaos continues at Chandigarh Airport: Only 4 arrivals, 6 departures till 9 am
Ten flights scheduled for December 6 were canceled by the airline on Friday evening
IndiGo airlines took early steps to restore normalcy in flight operations at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport Chandigarh this morning with a few on-time departures, although planned flight cancellations are set to hassle passengers here on Saturday as well.
The airline on Friday evening announced the cancellation of 10 flights from here on Saturday in a bid to reset its operations and realign with the nationwide network.
Ten flights scheduled for December 6 were canceled by the airline on Friday evening.
Flights to Lucknow (5:55 am), Delhi (5:45 am), Bengaluru (8:00 am), Indore (11:45 am), Leh (2:05 pm), Srinagar (2:10 pm), Mumbai (3:55 pm), Hyderabad (4:20 pm), Ahmedabad (7:00 pm), and Pune (9:10 pm) were canceled.
On Saturday morning until 9:00 am, flights from Jaipur (7:15 am), Bengaluru (7:30 am), Delhi (7:55 am), and Mumbai (8:20 am) arrived here, while flights to Hyderabad (6:22 am), Chennai (7:21 am), Patna (7:20 am), Jaipur (7:35 am), Delhi (8:45 am), and Mumbai (9:02 am) departed on time this morning.
Passengers alleged that IndiGo's "mismanagement" had led to a surge in airfares on other airlines as well. IndiGo officials remained unavailable for comment on flight operations later in the day.
The SBSI Airport Chandigarh is one of the worst-affected airports in the country, as IndiGo operates the majority, around 55 arrivals and departures, from here daily. As many as 33 arrivals and departures from here were canceled on Friday.
