Industrialists under the banner of the Vyapari Ekta Manch held a protest in support of the pending demands and blocked road at the Tribune Chowk, causing inconvenience to motorists.
Expressing their resentment, the protesters stated that they contributed billions in revenue to the government, yet it was unwilling to accept their need-based changes or implement the MSME policy to cancel the notices. They emphasised that the law itself provided provisions for the cancellation of such notices, and the Chandigarh Administrator holds the authority to do so.
City Congress president HS Lucky and Chandigarh BJP president Jatinder Malhotra extended their support to the traders.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Amandeep Bhatti met the protesters and accepted their memorandum of demands.
However, the traders remained adamant that their notices should be immediately withdrawn.
The ADC promised to arrange a meeting between their representatives and the UT Administrator so that they could voice their concerns in detail.
