Three days after a subadult male leopard was rescued from Nangal town, the wild cat has been hospitalised at the Chhatbir Zoo for treatment before being released back into the forest.
Officials said the leopard had sustained injuries while being rescued from a tree in a busy locality of Nangal.
“The wild cat is still hospitalised at Chhatbir Zoo and its injury status report is yet to come. The vets will assess the animal’s health before it is released back into its habitat as soon as possible,” said a zoo official. The leopard had reportedly killed a dog in the area on Thursday night and was found trapped on a tree on the Bhakra road in Nangal on Friday morning. A tranquilliser gun was used to sedate it and bring it down.
