Inter-College meet : PU swimmers win 4x100m relay gold

The Panjab University women’s 4x100m relay team won the gold medal by defeating GN College, Narangwal, at the Panjab University Aquatics Inter-College Tournament held on the PU campus today. The team of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42, finished third.

Ssamridhi of Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) College, Sector 26, won the women’s 800m freestyle event, followed by Varnika Bashambu of the PU campus. Deepshika of Guru Gobind Singh (GGS) College for Women, Sector 26, secured third position.

Ssamridhi won her second gold medal of the day by claiming the top position in the women’s 1500m freestyle event, followed by Riddhi of GNC and Drishti of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32. In the 100m backstroke, Vanisha, Neelanjana and Vanishka claimed first three positions, respectively. Vanisha won the 200m freestyle event, followed by Neelanjana of GN Naranagwal at second position and Ssamridhi at third. Vanisha won the women’s 50m breaststroke event by defeating Prayanshi of GNC Narangwal. Deepshikha of GGS claimed third position.

Paramraj grabs gold

Meanwhile, in the men’s 50m breaststroke event, Paramraj Singh of SGGS College won the gold medal. Keshav Kaushik of GGDSD College defeated Ramrinder of SGGS claimed second position. In the men’s 400m freestyle event, Abhay Prakash of DAV College, Sector 10, ousted Atul Arya of GGDSD to bag the first position.

Rajat of SGGS College finished with a bronze medal. Anshav Jindal of the PU campus won the men’s 100m butterfly event by defeating Abhay Prakash Sahu of DAV College. Arav of SGGS College claimed third position. In the men’s 200m freestyle event, Anshav, Rajat and Abhay claimed the top three positions, respectively. In the 4x100m medley relay event, SGGS College claimed the first position. The team of GGDSD College finished second. In the men’s 100m backstroke event, Jayant Punj of PU campus bagged the first position.

Sachin claims diving gold

Sachin claimed the gold medal in the 1m diving event at the inter-college diving competition. Sachin claimed 163.4 points to win the gold medal. Shivam (123 points) and Chirag (54.2 points) claimed second and third position, respectively. In the 3m diving event, Sachin (197 points), Chirag (129.6 points) and Shivam (60 points) won medals, while in the 10m event, Shivam (149.1 points), Sachin (114.2 points) and Chirag (90.2 points) bagged medals. DAV College, Hoshiarpur, won the overall trophy, followed by SGGS College finished second and GGDSD College claimed third position.
