Chandigarh, July 26
Aryan Yadav scored an unbeaten 200 off 257 balls, studded with 27 boundaries, to help Patiala gain commanding position against Sangrur during the first day’s play of the Punjab State Inter-District U-16 Tournament.
Batting first, the hosts amassed 305/9 in 90 overs. Gursimardeep Singh, Parjoshveer Singh and Ansh Garg claimed two wickets each for the bowling side. In reply, Sangur lads were 14/2 at the draw of stumps.
In another match, Nawanshahr lads were restricted to 161 runs by Ropar bowlers. Pariman Singh (36) and Meeraz Nanda (30) were the two main run getters for the side. Taranvir Singh (4/36) was the pick of the bowlers, while Aarush Manchanda claimed 2/24.
In reply, Ropar was 32/2 in 12.5 overs at the end of the first day’s play. Yamuna Singh (13) was the sole main scorer for the side. Roshanpreet and Jashandeep took one wicket each for the bowling side.
In other matches, Kapurthala trailed by 51 runs against Ludhiana, Ferozepur lead by 87 runs against Hoshiarpur, Bathinda claimed 76-run lead over Fazilka and Mansa trailed by 168 runs against Fatehgarh Sahib.
