Inter-school meet: Strawberry Fields, Bhavan Vidyalaya log wins in tennis

Chandigarh, August 21

The girls’ U-17 lawn tennis teams of Strawberry Fields High School (SFHS), Sector 26, and Bhavan Vidyalaya (BV), Sector 27, logged easy victories in their respective matches of the inter-school tournament.

The Sector 27 team defeated Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Sector 38, and the Sector 26 team overpowered DAV Public School, Sector 8, by identical scores of 2-0. Vivek High School, Sector 38, also logged a 2-0 win over Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, and the RIMT, Mani Majra, logged a 2-1 win over Ryan International School, Sector 49.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ U-17 badminton event, Vivek High School team logged a 2-1 win over Saupin’s School, Sector 32. Chitkara International School, Sector 25, logged a 2-0 win over St Marry School, Sector 46, whereas, Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, logged a 2-0 win over Aanchal School, Sector 46, while Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, ousted Stepping Stones, Sector 37, by identical score of 2-0. KBDAV School, Sector 7, recorded a 2-0 win over St Stephen’s School, Sector 45.

GMSSS-16 spikers log win

In the boys’ U-19 volleyball inter-school tournament, the team of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 16, logged a 25-12, 25-18 win over the GMSSS, Sector 47. Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector 30, recorded a 25-8, 25-8 win over Banyan Tree School, Sector 48, while Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, posted a 25-16, 25-19 win over the GMSSS, Sector 37. In the girls’ U-19 category, Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, recorded a 25-8, 25-7 win over the GMSSS, Sector 23, and the Sector 30 team ousted DAV, Sector 15, 25-2, 25-6.

Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, registered a 17-7 win over the GMSSS, Sector 33, during a match of the girls’ U-17 inters-chool baseball tournament held at the GMSSS, Sector 37. In the girls’ U-19 category, the GMSSS, Sector 15, easily posted a 21-11 win over the GMSSS, Sector 38, and DAV, Sector 8, posted 15-2 victory over St Anne’s School, Sector 32.

In the girls’ U-14 kho-kho event, the GMSSS, Sector 8, defeated Tender Heart School, Sector 33, by one turn. The GMSSS, Kaimbwala, ousted the GMSSS, Sector 33, by nine points and the GMSSS, Sector 25, outplayed Modern Ways School, Sector 29, by one point. The AKSIPS, Sector 41, ousted Kulwant Rai Sharda Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir by 11 points.

Vivek High win in squash

Vivek High School defeated Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 42, in the girls’ U-14 inter-school squash event by 2-0. In the U-17 event, Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, logged a 2-0 win over the GMHS, Sector 43, and GMSSS, Sector 38, logged a 2-0 win over the GMSSS, Sector 32. Delhi Public School, Sector 40, won the U-19 category match by defeating the GMSSS, Sector 38 (W), 2-0.
