The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Panchkula Police, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj and supervision of DCP Crime Manpreet Singh Sudan, has dismantled an inter-state drug supply network, seizing 1 quintal 16 kg of poppy husk.
According to ACP Crime, the operation followed a tip-off received on Friday that a truck driver was transporting poppy husk from Rajasthan to Himachal Pradesh via Panchkula. Acting swiftly, a team led by Anti-Narcotics Cell Incharge Praveen Kumar intercepted the truck near village Golpura and apprehended two suspects on the spot.
The arrested men have been identified as Jogendra (54), son of Mansingh and Vikas Singh (29), son of Jayveer Singh, both residents of village Matanhail, district Jhajjar, Haryana. Upon searching the vehicle, police seized eight plastic sacks containing a total of 1 quintal 16 kilograms of poppy husk.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Raipur Rani police station. Preliminary interrogation revealed the accused were supplying the contraband to parts of Himachal Pradesh and Panchkula.
Both men were produced in court today and remanded to eight days of police custody for further investigation. The police are now tracing the supply chain and identifying other individuals involved in the network.
