Chandigarh: Interview for new DAV college principal put off
The management of DAV College, Sector 10, has postponed the interview to pick the new principal after one of the applicants filed an objection against another candidate.
Twenty-two candidates had come to appear in the interview today. However, the interview was called off at the eleventh hour.
In a complaint, a DAV College faculty, who has also applied for the post, said one candidate was ineligible to be in the shortlist for the interview. “The Department of Higher Education (DHE) and Panjab University shall assess the situation and frame uniform rules,” said the applicant.
The controversy surrounding appointment of DAV College principal had hit the headlines as officiating principal Jyotirmaya Khatri was relieved of the charge on March 13. Within hours of Khatri’s request for relieving him due to personal reasons, the charge was given to the next senior most faculty member, Mona Narang, Associate Professor, Mathematics Department.
The letter in this regard was issued by Director, Higher Education, DAV College Managing Committee — a post which reportedly does not exist according to the PU calendar. — TNS
