The Mohali police are regularly conducting raids at IT companies with more than 50 employees. The owners of such companies were asked to minimise the number of employees.
According to the information, the police conducted raids on the premises of around five companies today. The police had already issued notice to a few companies for shutting down. A private IT company was running in the Industrial Area with around 60 employees which was shut down on Friday night.
Sources said one of the IT companies in Mohali, Teleperformance, was also operating with 300 employees on its three floors yesterday. The BPO support company has its office in Industrial Area, Sector 75. The company had called its employees to work today also, but a very few of them turned up and complained to the police that the company was making them work against their wishes, said a source.
Sub-Inspector Baljinder Singh Mand said on getting the information, they raided the company’s premises, but it was found to be closed. “They have today ordered all employees to work from home. Internet dongles and systems were given to the employees,” said Baljinder Singh Mand.
Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan had ordered that gathering on a single floor of an IT company should not exceed 50.
SDM Jagdeep Saigal said: “We cannot pressurise the IT companies as it was their livelihood. We have received some complaints from employees.”
