Chandigarh, May 4
The North-Western Railway today issued a notification on reducing the frequency of some special trains. The decision will also impact Daulatpur Chowk - Jaipur Intercity Express, which halts at the Chandigarh railway station.
Instead of making a daily halt, the train will now stop in the city only thrice in a week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
“The train was anyway running on low occupancy. About 150 sleeper-class seats of the train, while coming from Jaipur, were vacant. The same was the case with non-AC seats too,” said JP Singh, superintendent, Chandigarh railway station.
The train arrives in Chandigarh from Jaipur at 7:30 am and halts for 15 minutes. From Daulatpur Chowk, it arrives in Chandigarh at 6:50 pm and stops for 20 minutes.
