For the last six years, Makkar is the only show jumper from Chandigarh to have won a medal at the nationals every year. This year, the national event witnessed a participation of more than 300 riders. He participated in the juniors (U-19) age group, which saw the participation of about 70 riders.

Makkar competed with senior riders and had good rounds, enabling him and his team to secure third place in the nationals. “This win is a combined effort of everyone who has supported me at every step. I am trying to strike a balance between my studies and sport. My teachers, coaches and family understand how demanding and challenging this can be,” said Makkar, who is currently in Class XI.
