Jashan, Sanjam take colts into semifinals

Chandigarh, January 6
Skipper Jashan Beniwal and Ansh Khosla shared seven wickets between them before Sanjam Preet Singh scored an unbeaten half-century to help Chandigarh beat Haryana by five wickets and enter the semifinals of the 65th National U-17 Cricket Championship at Daman & Diu today.
Opting to bat, Haryana were bowled out for 113 runs in 17.3 overs. Hitesh Sorout made 27 runs, while Mohd Saif and Karan Prabhakar hit 21 runs each.
Beniwal led the Chandigarh attack with figures of 4/23, while Khosla claimed 3/23. Sohail, Harish and Paras took one wicket each.
In reply, Chandigarh rode on Sanjam’s unbeaten 50-run knock to reach home in 19.3 overs. Bhavesh Saini contributed 21 rums to the chase, while Dushyant Thamman made a vital 18.
Karan Prabhakar, Rishabh, Anmol Narang and Shubham Lamba took one wicket each for Haryana.
Chandigarh vs Pondicherry: No play on Day 2
Chandigarh: The second day of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match between hosts Chandigarh and Pondicherry at the Sector 16 stadium on Monday was washed out without a ball being bowled. Chandigarh were batting on 58/2 in response to Pondicherry’s first innings total of 156 on Sunday. Opener Jagmeet Singh was unbeaten on 33 and Harshit was not out on six. TNS
