Jasnoor sets two meet records in SGFI meet

Mohali swimmer Jasnoor Kaur won two gold medals and one silver medal in the in SGFI Swimming Nationals in Delhi. A student of the Yadavindra Public School (Mohali), Jasnoor won the 50m freestyle gold with a new meet record timing of 30.28 seconds.

She won her second gold in the 50m butterfly event with another meet record of 30.16s. She won the silver medal in the 100m freestyle by clocking 1 minute, 3.88 seconds. She is training under coach Johny Bhatia at the Sector 78 Sports Complex.

Earlier, she had won three gold medals at the Punjab State Swimming Championship at Panjab University. while in the 42nd Senior Punjab Swimming Championship, at the War Heroes Stadium in Sangrur, she had won the 100m butterfly gold.

She followed it up by winning a rich haul of seven medals, including six gold, in the Tandarust Punjab State Swimming Championship. “I am happy by setting two meet records at the championship. I participated in the U-17 category and from next year it will be a tough competition as I have now moved to the U-19 category. I am now eyeying to make it to the Khelo India Academy so that I can go ahead and represent the country in various international championships,” said Jasnoor. —TNS
