Chandigarh, February 7
Chandigarh batters fumbled against Jharkhand’s bowling attack as Manishi, Kounain Quraishi and Harsh Raj came together to hand over an innings and 99-run defeat to the side, during the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match.
Chasing a mammoth total of 649, Chandigarh lads were bundled out at 269 in the first innings. Put to follow-on, they failed once again and could post only 281 runs to face defeat. Manishi claimed seven wickets, Quraishi accounted five and Harsh claimed five to derail Chandigarh batting line-up in both the innings.
Resuming 178/5, Chandigarh started off well as Rajangad Bawa and Chirag Dhindsa raised a 60-run stand. However, desperately looking for winding up the match early, skipper Sahil Raj brought in Manishi to Jharkhand’s attack. The left arm spinner without any hiccups took Bawa’s wicket to put Chandigarh on the back foot. Bawa (25 off 49 balls, with four boundaries) left the team at 238. The rest of the damage was done by Harsh as he picked Dhindsa (38 off 70 balls, with seven boundaries), Harshit (9), Chiraz (4) and Mohammed Ashad (4) to pack Chandigarh innings at 281. Amit Shukla (24) remained the sole unbeaten batsman for the side.
